The History of
Hidden Oaks

Hidden Oaks’ formal unveiling occurred on June 1, 1999, as Central Michigan was re-introduced to a championship course renowned for excellent greens, rolling fairways and challenging golf.  Formerly known as Edgewood Hills, the nine-hole course began construction on a back-nine layout in 1998 that would incorporate natural wetlands, demanding tee shots, and the exceptional touch of Jerry Matthews.  As an 18-hole championship design, Hidden Oaks has flourished into a venue fit for every golfer in search of an outstanding round among nature and all of its’ surroundings.

For nearly 30 years, Edgewood Hills, designed by the elder Matthews – Bruce, held the reputation of the best-kept secret in Mid-Michigan.  With the addition of the newest nine in 1999, Hidden Oaks joined the ranks of the finest championship layouts in the area.  Owned and operated by Ed and Pam Dangler since 1994, St. Louis’ lone golf course has grown into a destination course for players from Saginaw, Midland, Lansing, Detroit, and beyond.  Along with the local golfers who continually support and play Hidden Oaks, players from around the state and region are constantly booking tee times, planning outings, and teeing it up at one of Michigan’s finest facilities.
